With work looming round the corner (next week) the 12 week lockdown holiday is coming to an end.
There will be a lot less drinking beer, and a lot more delivering it for me. But getting back behind the wheel of my truck can only mean one thing: the pubs will be open! It will be nice to finally enjoy an overpriced beer with friends and family at the pub.
During the first week of lockdown I got a delivery from Beer Me Brewery (Belgium Cafe, Eastbourne) at 5 litres for £20 and I enjoyed every one I had: the Big Blonde and this India Pale Ale stuck out the most for me, so on my little stroll along Eastbourne seafront the other day I popped to their take away window and grabbed a litre to take home.
Not a sample of urine. Promise.
5.4% ABV this drink pours a dark amber colour with a small white top.
Smells of citrus, hops and malts.
Flavours of citrus, earthy floral notes and strong bitterness to end. There is no fancy fruit flavours just a straight to the point nice IPA.
Here's what they had to say on their website...
"Our IPA follows a 21 day dry hopping, blending a noble range of hops from around the world. Like all our beers, IPA 21 is the result of a top fermented and lagered combination giving you a unique real ale with a continental touch."
For me this is a great IPA that you could drink all night and once the pubs are back open I intend to visit the Belgium Cafe and drink it all night.
I'll give it a 7/10... it's nothing amazing, but still a nice simple IPA.
