Blog #84. Salt - Jute. Session IPA.

After battling with my baby boy Theo, trying to get him to go sleep. A well deserved beer was on the cards. I may have won the battle, but the war certainly rages on.

After a fair few days beer less I thought I'd return with an easy one and chose to pluck a session IPA out the fridge, wanting to guarantee my enjoyment. In my experience these don't often disappoint.

Jute Session IPA by Salt - 4.2%

My last experience of a Salt beer was Alpaca, a DDH IPA. Which was bloody awful! But I maintained throughout the review I wasn't judging Salt just yet because I was aware that perhaps double dry hopped beers weren't for me. I have since had another DDH which was Lost Cosmonauts by North Brewing Co and it was lovely, 8/10 (haven't reviewed). So maybe Salts DDH is just bad. But Jute however, their session IPA is alright.

This is a very aromatic IPA, really hits you as your pouring it. Flavour wise it isn't as strong, not too overpowering and not too bitter. Very sessionable, which I guess is the point of a session IPA. But no complaints from me. It gets smoother as it goes on.

This is one I would happily buy again, if nothing better was on offer. And if I had a variety in the fridge, this is what I'd hand to a guest, saving the real good stuff for me.
